City Council approves Des Moines Creek West purchase from Port
At their September 26, 2024 meeting, the Des Moines City Council voted 7-0 to complete the sale of Tract C in exchange for $690,000 a connecting road between the existing complex and the expansion. The Des Moines, WA City Council held a public hearing on September 12, 2024 to consider selling a small city-owned parcel called 'Tract C' (19,881 sq ft) to the Port of Seattle for $690,000, its appraised fair market value, to support truck access for the Des Moines Creek Business Park West development near Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The sale is part of a long-running effort to develop commercial and industrial land on Port-owned property, with the project expected to support over 600 full-time jobs. The council also considered accepting a trail easement from the Port to connect the Barnes Creek Trail to the Des Moines Creek Trail as part of the same development agreement. -
