    Information Regarding “Raw” Noise Data

This document from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport explains what 'raw' noise data is, how it is collected and processed, and how the public can request it. The unfiltered, one-second decibel readings captured by the Port's noise monitors are not matched to specific aircraft and must be viewed with specialized Larson Davis software; a vendor processes the data using algorithms to produce standard aviation noise metrics. Residents can request raw data through the Washington State Public Records Act portal, though the Port disclaims any liability for how the data is used and notes it cannot be directly compared to the FAA-required DNL noise contour values used for sound insulation eligibility.

    Information Regarding “Raw” Noise Data

Fact sheet from Port Of Seattle / Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac Airport) explaining raw noise data provided through Public Records Act (Chapter 42.56 RCW) requests. Covers what raw data is (unfiltered 1-second dB recordings from Larson Davis noise monitors, not correlated with aircraft overflights), how the vendor processes it using algorithms and aircraft overflight correlations

Purchase order A-0000274251 change order – noise monitoring and flight tracking system

The Port of Seattle issued Purchase Order A-0000274251 to Exelis Inc. of Herndon, VA, for a Noise Monitoring and Flight Tracking System at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, originally dated January 21, 2015. Two change orders were subsequently issued: Change Order 1 reduced the contract price by $18,400 (replacing four weather stations with METARS data), and Change Order 2 increased it by $32,802 for additional site modifications, bringing the final total PO amount to $1,001,655.16.
