Port Packages (explained here) are the sound insulation systems installed by the Port of Seattle to over 9,400 single family homes and dozens of apartment buildings and schools under the flight path.

Unfortunately, many of those sound insulation systems developed any number of problems. This tag concerns efforts to obtain relief (including repair and replacement) since those problems were first identified back in the late 1990’s.

The assessment will involve extensive outreach, collection of information from 18 property owners and analysis of that information. Results of that assessment shall be delivered to 19 the Commission by January 21, 2025. 20 The Commission also directs the establishment of a "Sound Insulation Repair and Replacement 22 Pilot Program" at the Port of Seattle to identify the issues involved in the repair and re-insulation 23 for prioritized homes. Effective immediately, the Commission authorizes an initial commitment 24 of $5 million dollars for this program.
