Port of Seattle Long Range Plan 2018-2022
The mission of the Port of Seattle is to create economic opportunity and stronger communities by advancing trade and commerce, promoting manufacturing and maritime growth, and improving our environment for current and future generations. Our vision is to add 100,000 jobs through economic growth led by the Port, for a total of 300,000 port-related jobs in the region, while reducing our environmental footprint. We are committed to creating opportunity for all, partnering with surrounding communities, promoting social respon- sibility, conducting ourselves transparently, and holding ourselves accountable for improving the environment. The Port of Seattle uses a rolling 5-year Long Range Plan (LRP) to focus our efforts on job growth and strategic objectives established by the Commission in the Century Agenda (see page 5). Over the last two years, the LRP has helped the Port align programs to achieve the Port’s Century Agenda. For each strategic objective, the LRP sets out the key actions and performance mea- sures to guide the work and monitor progress. All Port divisions participate in the LRP through cross-departmental teams formed around strategic objectives. The LRP shapes the annual budget and ensures that all Port divisions have specific, achievable actions to keep up with the dramatic growth in our industries and create economic opportunities for all in our community. The intention of the LRP is to bring all capabilities of the Port to bear in the work of achieving the economic and environmental goals that the Commission and public have identified as most pressing for our… -
