    Des Moines Historical Society Airport History

    The <a href="http://dmhs.org" target="_blank">Des Moines Historical Society</a> will present a free, public program on the history of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Wednesday, November 19 at 7 p.m. Join Devlin Donnelly, Port of Seattle Creative Services Manager, and Marco Milanese, Aviation Division Community Relations Manager, for a free one hour program of Sea-Tac’s history. Topics include why the airport was located at Bow Lake, what did Tacoma/Pierce County contribute to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, what were crosswind runways and when they were abandoned, which major airlines serving SEA throughout history, why the airport was briefly renamed to honor Sen. Jackson in 1983, the parking garage and subway additions in the early 1970s, light rail access, and future airport projects.
