Second reading and final passage of resolution no. 3662 – woodinville subdivision property transfer to king county
In June 2012, the Port of Seattle Commission considered a resolution to sell portions of the Woodinville Subdivision rail corridor (also known as the Eastside Rail Corridor) to King County for $15 million, minus closing costs and a $1.9 million credit. The sale was part of a broader regional agreement among the Port, King County, Sound Transit, the City of Redmond, Cascade Water Alliance, and Puget Sound Energy to transfer the former BNSF Railway corridor into public ownership for future trail and transportation uses. The resolution also authorized a permanent easement granting King County rights over part of the Port's freight section of the corridor for recreational trail purposes. -

This 2011 report by the Stockholm Environment Institute estimates King County, Washington's greenhouse gas emissions for 2008 using a 'geographic plus' methodology, covering sources such as transportation, buildings, industry, and waste. Total emissions reached approximately 23.4 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent in 2008, a 5% increase from 2003, with transportation accounting for roughly half of all emissions.
