Notes
Open letter from King County Council District No. 8 representative Bob Grieve opposing the relocation of Boeing’s headquarters into an open space buffer zone designated by the Highline Community Plan (adopted December 1977). The buffer area was bounded by Sea-Tac Airport to the east, 12th Avenue South to the west, South 154th Street to the north, and South 176th Street to the south. The King County Council passed an ordinance amending the comprehensive plan to permit a re-zone from single family residential to light manufacturing, with three of nine council members opposed. Grieve notes adjacent residents opposed the Boeing relocation citing precedent concerns, that legal action was being pursued, and solicits constituent opinions on how to hold the Port Commission, federal government, and King County accountable for promises made regarding Sea-Tac Airport.
