Meeting minutes of the Ultrafine Particle (UFP) Advisory Group held August 8, 2022, covering indoor air quality research and aircraft impacts on schools near Sea-Tac Airport. Key topics include Phase I findings from the MOV-UP study showing 50% UFP infiltration reduction to 10% with HEPA air purifiers in classrooms, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) of particle sources including aircraft exhaust and vehicle emissions, black carbon and CO2 measurements, and a pilot crossover study on short-term cardiorespiratory health effects of aircraft UFP exposures at SeaTac Community Center using PAPR with HEPA/VOC filters. Attendees include representatives from UW DEOHS, UW CEE, UW Epidemiology, Puget Sound Clean Air Agency (PSCAA), WA State Department of Health, Public Health Seattle King County, EPA Region 10, DRCC, Port of SeaTac, City of SeaTac, Des Moines City Council, Quiet Skies Puget Sound, and Congressman Adam Smith’s office. Phase II activities planned include wildfire response, portable air cleaner (PAC) distribution, Duwamish area outdoor monitoring, and mobile monitoring.
