Memorandum dated March 7, 2000, from Mike Warfel (Parametrix, Inc.) to Paul Agid of Port Of Seattle, project number 556-2912-001(66), Port of Seattle 3rd Runway Project. Reports results of soil sampling for pesticides and herbicides at the Vacca Farm site conducted November 9, 1999. Thirteen soil samples from six locations tested for organochlorine pesticides (EPA Method 8181, 20 compounds), organophosphorous pesticides (EPA Method 8140, 27 compounds), and herbicides (EPA Method 8150, 12 compounds) by Sound Analytical Services, Inc., Tacoma. Dieldrin detected at stations FP-1 and FP-2 at 86 and 85 µg/kg, exceeding MTCA Method B cleanup level of 62.5 µg/kg. Samples from Miller Creek relocation corridor stations MC-1, MC-2, MC-3 did not exceed MTCA Method B levels. Recommends excavation and offsite disposal of upper 6 inches (~4,400 cubic yards) from proposed floodplain area. Discusses potential water quality impacts to relocated Miller Creek and geotextile/spawning gravel channel lining. AR 026505–AR 026507.
