Notes
Letter dated May 7, 2019 from Federal Way Mayor Jim Ferrell, Deputy Mayor Susan Honda, and all Federal Way City Council members (Lydia Assefa-Dawson, Jesse Johnson, Hoang Tran, Mark Koppang, Martin Moore, Dini Duclos) to UW DEOHS Associate Professor Edmund Seto and Professor Timothy Larson requesting expansion of the MOV-UP ultrafine particle (UFP) study measuring air quality around Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The letter requests three methodological additions: (1) a Pacific coast baseline measurement site unaffected by air traffic; (2) vertical drone measurements at multiple altitudes before and after aircraft landings at two parks, two schools, and NEPA/SEPA social justice impact areas in Federal Way, subject to FAA coordination; (3) design of a permanent 24/7 ultrafine particle monitoring network to be completed by mid-August 2019. The city also endorses applying to the Port of Seattle for a fully funded grant to support the expanded study.
