Notes
Email chain dated August 10, 2000 from Kelly R. Whiting, PE (King County Department of Natural Resources, Water and Land Resource Division, Drainage Services Section) to Louise Kulzer and Kate Rhoads, cc David Masters, regarding Landscape Management Plans and the POS-SMP proposed approach for dealing with metal roofs at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (STIA). Whiting raises issues about grass infield areas surrounding runways and taxiways being managed as water quality treatment BMPs (filter strips) and whether these exceed the 1-acre threshold for managed landscape treatment requirements. Attachment ‘Rooftop_Retro1.doc’ describes a process for assessing metallic rooftops under the Port’s NPDES Permit, including stormwater monitoring, whole effluent toxicity (WET) testing in subbasins SDE-4, SDS-3, SDN-1, and SDN-4, source tracing, and BMP application (coatings, membranes, removal of exhaust sources). Paint systems ranged $0.22–$2.50/sq ft; synthetic coverings $1.45–$3.50/sq ft. Exhibit 119 in PCHB/Rhoads proceedings, AR 017910–017912.
