EXH AR019295: Biological Opinion — FWS Sec 7 Consultation STIA Master Plan Update (Bull Trout, Bald Eagle, Marbled Murrelet)

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service issued a biological opinion in May 2001 evaluating the potential effects of proposed Master Plan Update Improvements at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on three protected species: bull trout, bald eagle, and marbled murrelet. The review was conducted under Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act at the request of the Federal Aviation Administration, which had determined the project was 'not likely to adversely affect' any of the three species. The opinion covers planned airport development in the cities of SeaTac and Des Moines, along with off-site wetland mitigation near the Green River in Auburn, Washington.

Notes

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) biological opinion (BO), FWS Reference 1-3-00-F-1420, transmitted May 22, 2001, to Lowell H. Johnson of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), concerning the effects of the proposed Master Plan Update Improvements (MPUI) for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) in King County, Washington on three listed species: threatened bull trout (Salvelinus confluentus), bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus), and marbled murrelet (Brachyramphus marmoratus) under Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act (ESA), 16 U.S.C. 1531. Project proposed by Port of Seattle Sea-Tac (Port); off-site wetland mitigation located in City of Auburn near Green River. Formal consultation reinitiated due to bull trout listing and new marbled murrelet presence information. FAA determined action “not likely to adversely affect” all three species.
