Stockholm Environment Institute – U.S. Center report prepared for King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks estimating 2008 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions using the “geographic plus” methodology. Authors Chelsea Chandler, Peter Erickson, and Michael Lazarus quantify GHG emissions from transportation (road, air, marine and rail), residential and commercial buildings, industry, waste, agriculture, and land use change within King County, Washington for 2003 and 2008. Total 2008 emissions estimated at approximately 23.4 million metric tons CO2e, a 5% increase from 2003; transportation accounts for half of all emissions. Includes data from Puget Sound Clean Air Agency, Puget Sound Energy, City of Seattle, and State of Washington.
