Notes
2026 workplan for the Des Moines Aviation Advisory Committee addressing airport-related environmental and community impacts. Covers four priority areas: (1) air quality monitoring system expansion and permanent funding, toxicologist addition to the SAMP SEPA Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) response team, and City of Des Moines comments to the SAMP Draft EIS; (2) Part 150 Study noise mitigation concerns including sound insulation de-emphasis, land use designation changes, eminent domain as alternative mitigation, and public education on Sea-Tac Airport impacts; (3) SAMP NEPA traffic analysis gaps — notes 10 Category 1 Impact intersections none in Des Moines — and advocacy for comprehensive SEPA traffic analysis including WSDOT HWY 509 project impacts; (4) community survey planned for mid-2026 to gauge awareness of SAMP and projected airport operations growth over 7–12 years.
