Notes
Washington State Department of Commerce Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) post-report update dated January 7, 2021, summarizing priority next steps from the Stantec-developed 72-recommendation study on current and ongoing effects of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport operations on neighboring cities (Sea Tac, Tukwila, Burien, Normandy Park, Federal Way, Des Moines). TAC prioritized 13 recommendations across Public Health, Air Quality, Noise and Vibration, Mobility, and Surface Water/Groundwater/Soils categories, including noise abatement for late-night operations, alternative fuel use, ultrafine particle research, DNL contour alternatives, independent testing of ‘black soot,’ and an airport parking master plan. Also addresses TAC disagreement with the report’s characterization of Port of Seattle expansion plans for 19 additional gates, which were still under FAA review, and recommends revised language for page 36, paragraph 3 of the Stantec report.
