Notes
FAA Northwest Mountain Region letter dated September 2, 1998, from FAA to Brian R. Applebury, Chief Operations Division, Seattle District Corps of Engineers, regarding permit application 96-4-02325 for Port Of Seattle Third Runway at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Letter addresses compensatory wetland mitigation, bird/aircraft strike hazard, Advisory Circular AC 150/5200-33 ‘Hazardous Wildlife Attractants on or Near Airports,’ 10,000-foot separation requirement for wetland mitigation near jet airports, USDA Animal Damage Control (USDA-ADC) position on off-site mitigation, Sea-Tac Master Plan FSEIS Record of Decision (ROD) July 3, 1997, Wetlands Mitigation Plan December 1996, JARPA, Miller Creek, Des Moines Creek, Paine Field wetland compensation bank MOA, and Vecca Farm property. FAA concludes on-site wildlife habitat mitigation is incompatible with safe airport operations and supports off-site mitigation outside the Sea-Tac watershed. AR 041825–041827.
