Exhibit 2240 (AR 034936–034938) presents six baseline condition photographs of Vacca Farm dated November 16, 1998 and April 29, 1997, documenting environmental conditions near Sea-Tac Airport. Photos show discarded pumpkins attracting hundreds of crows, starlings, and seagulls creating a bird strike hazard; a flock of geese with several hundred mallards and widgeons using the pumpkin field; degraded wetland with disrupted plant community from agricultural planting; un-buffered Miller Creek with structures built to the creek edge and fields ploughed within ten feet; chronic sediment and nutrient discharge from a field overwintered without cover crop; and flooded corn fields on peat soils in November 1998. The site is located near Des Moines Memorial Drive. Photos note that waterfowl use will significantly decrease after wetland restoration, and that urban waterfowl are a significant source of fecal coliform. Homes in the background are located in the zone of proposed embankment fill.
