Notes
Winter 1998 issue of ‘Sound Information,’ the Port of Seattle Noise Abatement Office newsletter for Sea-Tac Airport. Reports that U.S. airlines are ahead of schedule transitioning to Stage 3 aircraft under the Airport Noise and Capacity Act of 1990, with 75.5% of U.S. fleet and 87% of Sea-Tac Airport fleet now Stage 3 as of December 1997. Alaska Airlines completed hush kit installation on eight Boeing 737-200 jets, achieving an all-Stage 3 fleet two years ahead of the year 2000 federal mandate. Covers engine maintenance run-up noise complaints from weekend testing, Port coordination with Alaska Airlines to avoid early morning/evening run-ups, and two Alaska flights temporarily operating from Boeing Field due to nighttime Stage 2 restrictions at Sea-Tac. Quarterly reports for Q2 and Q3 1997 detail fleet mix, noise budget compliance, nighttime Stage 2 limitation violations, flight procedure success rates, Noise Remedy Program insulation totals (5,536 and 5,916 homes respectively), and noise complaint line call volumes from Des Moines, Burien/Normandy Park, and Riverton Heights. Announces Part 150 Noise Study initiation and Sea-Tac Noise Advisory Committee meeting dates for January 15, March 19, and June 18, 1998.
