PSRC Aviation Baseline Study Survey Report

The PSRC Aviation Baseline Study surveyed 1,416 residents and gathered public input through interviews, virtual meetings, and an online open house to understand regional priorities around aviation. Across all input methods, participants consistently favored spreading air service across multiple regional airports rather than expanding Sea-Tac or building a new airport. While randomly selected survey and interview participants emphasized economic benefits and meeting aviation demand, self-selected open house participants were more focused on noise and environmental impacts from aviation.

Notes

Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) Aviation Baseline Study Survey Report presenting public input collected through four methods: a statistically valid survey of 1,416 residents in the four-county Puget Sound region, 22 resident interviews (replacing focus groups due to COVID-19), an online open house with 377 participants as of October 19, and poll questions at three virtual public meetings (September 23, 29, and 30) with 176 total participants. Key findings include survey and interview respondents prioritizing meeting aviation demand and economic benefits, while virtual meeting and online open house participants emphasized noise and environmental impacts. A consistent theme across all input methods was preference for dispersing aviation service throughout the region rather than expanding Sea-Tac Airport capacity or building a new airport.
