Declaration of John J. Strunk (geologist, Associated Earth Sciences Inc., AESI) filed in PCHB No. 01-133, Airport Communities Coalition (ACC) v. State of Washington Department of Ecology and Port Of Seattle. Strunk testifies regarding groundwater evaluation at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (STIA), specifically the Aircraft Operations and Maintenance Area (AOMA) and potential contaminant migration to the proposed Third Runway site. Key findings: perched groundwater contamination in AOMA is isolated, discontinuous, and approximately 2,800 feet from the Third Runway site; subsurface utility trench backfill is not a preferred contaminant migration pathway; Qva aquifer groundwater flow predominantly moves away from the Third Runway. Deliverables submitted to Ecology under the May 25, 1999 Agreed Order include Conceptual Flow Model, Till Thickness Map, Qva Aquifer Ground Water Flow Measurements, and Draft Technical Memorandum on Preferential Ground Water Flow Paths (June 19, 2001).
