Notes
Supporting information for an academic study by Hudda, Simon, Zamore, Brugge, and Durant (Tufts University) on aviation emissions and ultrafine particle (UFP) concentrations in the greater Boston area, published in Environmental Science & Technology. Document includes diurnal flight activity patterns at Logan International Airport (2014 hourly average LTO data), runway-specific arrival and departure statistics by wind direction sector for January 2012–August 2015, and traffic volume data for I-93 and I-90. Key findings include average LTO rates of 46.2±10.4 h⁻¹ during high activity hours (0600–2359) versus 5.0±5.3 h⁻¹ during low activity hours (0000–0559). Runway 04R dominated arrivals under N/NE/E winds; Runway 9 dominated departures under N/NE/E winds. Study period covers January 2012 through August 2015.
