Aviation Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes, September 26, 2017

The Aviation Advisory Committee held its first meeting on September 26, 2017, to establish its work plan for addressing Sea-Tac Airport impacts on the surrounding community, including reviewing the airport's Sustainable Master Plan Environmental Impact Statement and examining noise, health, and transportation concerns. The committee agreed to hold open public meetings with a dedicated public comment period, and a budget was allocated to hire a consultant to analyze the airport's expansion plans. Committee member Edmiston was designated to report on the group's goals and progress at the October 12th City Council meeting.

Meeting minutes of the inaugural Aviation Advisory Committee (AAC) meeting held September 26, 2017, in the North Conference Room. Attendees included AAC members Sheila Brush, David Clark, Steve Edmiston, Wendy Ghiora, and Mark Proulx, along with City Manager Michael Matthias, Mayor Matt Pina, City Attorney Tim George, and Deputy City Clerk Renee Cameron. The AAC Work Plan was introduced, covering: review of the Port of Seattle’s Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Sea-Tac Airport Sustainable Master Plan (SAMP); frequency of operations and health/noise impacts; FAA and NextGen aircraft movements; development of a second regional airport; Washington Aviation System Plan; and delineation of responsibilities among FAA, Sea-Tac Airport, WSDOT, and Port of Seattle. Committee member Steve Edmiston agreed to report to the City Council at the October 12 meeting. Public comment, open meetings, and Quiet Skies website updates by Sheila Brush were also discussed.
