Notes
Section 11 of the 2020 Stantec study examining public safety quality-of-life conditions in communities surrounding Sea-Tac Airport, covering the period 1997–2019 with focus on 1997, 2009, and 2019 benchmarks. Analyzes violent crimes, property crimes, motor vehicular theft, human trafficking, and illegal drug trafficking in study area cities including Burien, Des Moines, Federal Way, and Tukwila relative to King County, Seattle MSA, State of Washington, and United States. Reviews four key findings of the 1997 study — proximity value inequity, increased social service demands, adverse and favorable indirect effects, and airport capacity forecasts — and evaluates the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) methodology applied by the FAA. Discusses impacts of third runway opening, depressed residential property values, rental property concentration, lower household income, and socioeconomic effects on Highline School District communities. Part of the Department of Commerce 2019 Sea-Tac Airport Communities Impact Study (Commerce Impacts Study 2018), pages A-263 through A-284.
