Notes
FAA press release (Release No. 90-16, April 2, 1990) announcing implementation of the Four-Post Plan air traffic control procedural changes at Sea-Tac Airport, effective April 3, 1990. Temple Johnson, Air Traffic Manager for FAA’s Northwest Mountain Region, states the plan was designed to relieve congestion over Puget Sound and improve National Airspace System efficiency. FAA studied 13 computer-simulated alternatives, conducted an environmental assessment with public comment period and public hearing, and issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI). Sea-Tac operations increased by 30,000 annual landings and takeoffs since November 1988 noise mediation began. Port of Seattle Noise Mediation Committee process formally ended; existing 1972 procedures cited as outgrown. Contact: Richard S. Meyer, (206) 431-2005.
