Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) submitted comments on the FAA’s Draft Policy Regarding Processing Land Use Changes on Federally Acquired or Federally Conveyed Airport Land (Docket No. FAA-2022-1203). ACI-NA raises concerns that the Draft Policy is confusing, introduces inconsistent application across FAA Regional and District Offices, and imposes new federal review and approval processes that could delay airport capital projects and increase costs. The letter requests clarification on five proposed policy changes and recommends that existing land use designations be grandfathered.
