Public comment by Bernedine Lund of Federal Way, member of 350 Seattle aviation group and Quiet Skies Puget Sound, delivered at the Highline Forum meeting and Port of Seattle Commissioner meeting on September 22, 2020. Lund argues that the FAA’s aircraft emissions model only calculates fuel use for takeoff and landing, excluding the majority of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from total fuel pumped at Sea-Tac Airport. She contends that Port of Seattle environmental efforts apply only to Sea-Tac-specific activities and not to aircraft emissions, misleading the public about the airport’s global warming impact.
