Following a nationwide search, thePort of Seattle has selectedArlyn Purcell, AICP to be the new Director, Aviation Environment and Sustainability at the Port of Seattle. Purcell began her new position in March, 2017.In her new role, Purcell is responsible for developing, directing, managing, and implementing comprehensive strategic policies for the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in the areas of environmental strategy, consistent with Port policy and in compliance with Federal, State and regional requirements. Sheis responsible for leading the integration of these strategies into the airport business planning, operation and management, and for assuring its consistent and successful implementation and ongoing regulatory compliance. This includes responsibility to ensure the airport operates in an environmentally conscious manner, and maintains full compliance with all relevant permit requirements. Purcell brings more than 30 years of experience in project management, airport compliance and sustainability plan management. She most recently served as Supervisor, Aviation Regional Planning/Supervisor, AirportEnvironmental Programs with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey.Purcell has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities Special Programs from Stanford University and a MastersDegree in Regional Planning from Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government.
