Air Mail: Third Workshop To Focus On New Noise Exposure Maps

This Fall 2010 Port of Seattle newsletter announces a public workshop on October 27 at Mount Rainier High School to present preliminary noise exposure maps from Sea-Tac Airport's FAA Part 150 Noise and Land-Use Compatibility Study, which examines ways to reduce aircraft noise impacts on surrounding communities. The maps, based on 12 months of cumulative aircraft noise data, will help identify noise-sensitive buildings and guide future mitigation efforts such as sound insulation. The newsletter also covers the reopening of Sea-Tac's renovated center runway, a student scholarship program funded by airport-related companies, and a new initiative to promote aviation biofuel development in the Pacific Northwest.
