Commission agenda memorandum requesting authorization for the Executive Director to execute a contract revision adding $1,020,000 to the existing $2,200,000 contract for liquid and solid pavement deicing agents at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, bringing the total to $3,220,000. The request is driven by the unexpectedly high deicing chemical spend of $1,020,000 during the 2018-2019 season, which could exhaust the current contract capacity if the upcoming season is similarly severe. The Port uses acetate-based deicing products that have been approved by the Department of Ecology due to their lower environmental impact compared to glycol-based fluids.
