In June 2012, the Port of Seattle Commission considered a resolution to sell portions of the Woodinville Subdivision rail corridor (also known as the Eastside Rail Corridor) to King County for $15 million, minus closing costs and a $1.9 million credit. The sale was part of a broader regional agreement among the Port, King County, Sound Transit, the City of Redmond, Cascade Water Alliance, and Puget Sound Energy to transfer the former BNSF Railway corridor into public ownership for future trail and transportation uses.
