The Port of Seattle Aviation Division launched the Green Gateway Environmental Excellence Awards Program to recognize airlines and tenants at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for outstanding environmental performance, innovative practices, pollution prevention, and resource conservation based on 2011 activities. Nominees are evaluated in three categories—Environmental Performance, Environmental Education and Outreach, and Environmental Innovation—with winners honored at a Port of Seattle Commission meeting and receiving a commemorative plaque.
