If you own a home in Burien, Des Moines, Kent or SeaTac, and have a sound insula- tion system (called a Port Package), you may be experiencing problems such as mold and water damage to your windows, doors and ceilings. You may have also heard about a new update program from the Port of Seattle and wonder what it might mean for you. On February 27, 2024 the Port of Seattle Com- mission ordered the creation of a Sound Insula- tion Repair and Replacement Pilot Program. At the same time, State law SB5955 was also cre- ated to help fund and monitor the program. Port Package Update Program News! The first thing to know is that this program is not running yet. There is nowhere to apply and nothing for you to do today because first the program has to be designed. That will take time. We will let everyone on our list know as soon as any new information is made available. The Port intends to assess all 9,400 homes that received Port Packages, create a system to prioritize homes for repair, what repairs need to be done, and who goes first.
