Washington State Department of Fish And Wildlife U.S. Army Corps of Engineers U.S. Environmental Protection Agency U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service March 1994 Ecology Publication #94-29 printed on recycled paper AR 028122 Preface This document was written to provide guidance for those planning to undertake the restoration, creation, or enhancement of freshwater wetlands as part of a mitigation program to compensate for unavoidable impacts to existing freshwater wetlands. Six federal and state agencies that review wetland projects and issue permits have collaborated to develop this guidance to improve and facilitate the permit process. By developing one document outlining our recommendations for mitigation plans we will significantly increase the coordination between agencies and reduce possible confusion on the part of applicants. Acknowledgements The report was written by Thomas Hruby, PhD and Cyd Brower of the Washington State Department of Ecology's Wetland Section, with help from: Debbie Knaub - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Joarme Stellini - U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Linda Storm - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Robert Zeigler - Washington State Department of Wildlife Ecology is an Equal Opportunity and Affn-mative Action employer and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, age, religion or disability as defined by applicable state and/or federal regulations or statutes.
