My September 5_, 2000 letter to you made the point that the Seattle Public Utilities water supply from Lake Youngs was too warm to bc of practical use in lowering stream tempera u_es in Des MoinesCreek.Sincethatt_metheaorta1 datatodocumentthispointhasbecomeavailable.Ihave plottedit in the attanhedgraph. As you can see, the Lake Youngs outlet temperature rises above 16° C.by the middle of June, and doesnotdropbackdownbelow16_C.untilmid-October.Thisistheprecisetimeintexwalduring whichtheDesMoinesCreekBasinCommitteewishestolowerthestreamtemperaturesbelow16° C.TheLakeYoungswaterroseashighas20°C.duringthesummerofthisyear. Obviously,waterfromSeattlePublicUtilities'CedarRiver/LakeYoungswatersupplywillnotserve asitwasproposedbythePortofSeattle,forthepurposeoftcmper'atumameliorationinDesMoines Creek.ThiscastsashadowonthePort'sclaimthatithassecuredasuitablewatersupplyforflow augmentation.
