Hi, Steveand Ray. Jthinkwe tn theTSP projectneedto understandthe rationalefor allowingelevatedlevelsofmetals, especiallyleadandarsenic,in thefillfor the3rd RunwayatSeaTac Airport.Thiswas raisedbythe CityofBudanas a sensitiveissuewithinthatcommunitythat is likelytobe raisedaswe beginthe educationprocessaboutthe wide-area contaminationinthe SW KingCountymainland. If it'sof concemto Burien, itmay be sensitiveinothercommunitiesinthe vicinityas well (e.g. SeaTac, NormandyPark,Tuk'wila). We ware quitecareful, inrespondingand negotiatingwithLoneStarGlacierNW onconditionsofthe EIS, toassurethat no arsenk_wouldbe exportedfromthe MauryIslandgravelpitunderthe pitexpansionEIS. While thisdidnotsatisfythe residentsof Vashonand MauryIsland,Jtwasdesignedto assurethatarseniccontaminationassociatedwithsurfacesoils atthe pitwere notexportedto f'_[sites,as wellas assuringthatenvironmentalandpotentialhumanhealth_mpactsonthe island(s)were mitigated. AnyInsightyoucouldprovidewouldbe appreciated. I presumefor yourpartsthatwouldpdmadlyinvolvepointingme towardthe EcologystaffmakingdecisionsaboutallowablelevelsofAs and Pb in3rdrunwayfill.
