The current SEA lease runs until 2027 with the expectation of an extension. • Welcomed three presenters, John Heimlich, Airlines for America VP and Chief Economist, Michael Drollinger, POS Business Intelligence Director, and Stan Shepherd, POS Noise Programs Senior Manager. III. U.S. Airlines: Road to Recovery, John Heimlich, Airlines for America (A4A) VP and Chief Economist A4A advocates on behalf of its members to shape policies that promote safety, security and a healthy U.S. airline industry, working collaboratively with airlines, labor, Congress, and the Administration. Welcomed U.S. Representative Adam Smith to StART. III. Federal Update, U.S. Representative Adam Smith U.S. Representative Adam Smith stressed that community involvement, dealing with air pollution, and reducing aviation’s impacts are some of his top legislative priorities. While engagement has gotten better with the Port of Seattle, there are still needed improvements, mostly with the FAA and he will continue to pursue ways that result in much better connections between the agency and the community. The central point of frustration is that the community believes that the public is far more impacted by noise and pollution than the FAA’s metrics capture. U.S. Representative Smith wants to get comprehensive data on air and noise pollution and its impacts and get the needed mitigation and necessary funding to support that mitigation. Shared an update on the Port’s efforts regarding Late Night Noise Limitation Program outreach. o The Port met with the regional and national team at FedEx just yesterday about their late- night noise exceedances. They pledged to continue the conversation. Additional details about the meeting will also be discussed at the next Aviation Noise Working Group meeting. o Also, the Port will draft a joint letter with member cities to acknowledge EVA Airway’s efforts to limit their late-night noise at SEA by changing to a quieter aircraft.
