Develop questions for US Representative Smith’s presentation at the next StART meeting. Meeting Summary: I. Facilitator welcome, introduction and meeting agenda, Brian Scott from BDS Planning & Urban Design II. Federal Policy Update, Eric Schinfeld, Port of Seattle 1. Infrastructure Bill o The $1.2 trillion bill passed by the Senate a couple of weeks ago is currently awaiting passage by the House. Many progressive Democrats will not vote on the infrastructure bill until the Build Back Better Act, the social legislation that needs only 50 votes, passes. 2. Build Back Better Act o This bill would provide funding for programs such as education, childcare, health care, immigration, and the environment. o There has not yet been agreement on the cost and scope of the legislation by the Senate and the House and thereby there is no real clarity as to what will happen with either bill. o Some conservative Democratic legislators are not ready to pass the bill in its current form, and there is about a 25%-30% chance of the bill not passing. o StART members previously identified the environmental/climate portion of the bill as a priority to support, which address sustainability, air quality, and noise mitigation. o Earlier in the year, a joint letter…
