Burien Resolution 505

WHEREAS, the Burien Airport Committee had five meetings in 2023 that could not proceed based on a failure to have a quorum; WHEREAS, the Burien Airport Committee has asked the City Council to reduce the Burien Airport Committee membership from seven to five; WHEREAS, that amendment would also reduce the number of councilmembers on the Burien Airport Committee from three to one; WHEREAS, after the council agreed to reduce the BAC from 7 to 5 members staff realized that the BAC actually had 9 members, but working without having 2 of the 9 BAC members for a long time; WHEREAS, on February 5, 2024, the council corrected the initial request and voted to reduce the BAC membership from 9 to 5 with only one councilmember; and NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BURIEN, WASHINGTON, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section One. The Burien City Council hereby reduces the Burien Airport Committee membership from nine to five members. To accomplish that goal, the City Council will reduce the number of council members on the Burien Airport Committee from three to one, and the number of noncouncil members from six to four. Section Two. Effective Date. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon passage by the Burien City Council.
