“This property is unsecured and has been inhabited for months now. In June of 23′ there was a fire, and the property was supposed to be cleared and secured. That has not been the case for months. Many windows are broken, the front doors are shattered, the grounds are filthy, and the building is covered with graffiti.
I live on Williams and N 6th and we have had a significant increase in foot traffic and general shenanigans in the last several months. I realize as the weather improves this is often the case, however, the increase has been significant and beyond the norm. I also suspect it is attracting people who are being moved out of Seattle as this building is very large and can accommodate lots of people.

We have been told the building is scheduled for demolition but in my opinion that does not give the owner cause to let it remain an unsecured hazard in our neighborhood. Code Enforcement should hold the owner accountable the same way it does for any other property owner in Renton.

I strongly believe this building is becoming a danger to the people living there and the surrounding community. Yesterday you could see where someone had thrown what looks like a ceiling tile or partition wall out the 7th story window. there is debris and glass on the sidewalk. One of our neighbors was followed by someone when she walked by the building and had to go to the Boeing building at 6th and Williams for assistance. At the last North Renton Neighborhood (NRNA) Meeting this was discussed, and it is an area of strong concern.

Tonight, I will be attending the City Council Meeting to ask for a formal response from Code Enforcement as to why this situation remains unresolved and the property is not secured. I will be representing the NRNA and myself as a property owner who is affected by this situation. If you would also like to speak you must register online by 5pm today. I apologize for the late post. If you would like to send comments to the Council you may email cityclerk@rentonwa.gov or post to Renton Responds. If you have time you may also attend the meeting in person as a show of support. The Council Meeting is at City Hall at 7pm on the 7th floor.

This will not change unless the city is motivated to act. Thank you in advance for your attention.”
